Group Fights Handicapped Parking Violators

If you want a job done right, do it yourself.  That seems to be the motto of the people at DontParkThere.com as they battle handicap parking violators around their home state of Oklahoma and nationwide from viewer submissions.  See names of violators such as Steve Jobs of Apple, the Santa Barbara police department, UPS, and even landscaping piles that are certainly not ADA accessible.

It’s amazing that countless citizens ignore the obvious blue handicap parking signs, no parking signs, and bold street paint.  Some vehicles don’t even have a reason to compete for the placement of the highly prized handicap accessible parking as there are no other cars parked in the lot.

So why is it that people continue to ignore and violate the rules of parking?  One guy even was so bold as to post a picture on twitter that he shot of the handicapped parking sign from his own drivers seat.

DontParkThere.com is fighting back and posting these violators with their license plate for all to see.  We’re not sure that this would legitimize any tickets handed to them, but it’s a start.

I’ve been in a chair for 28 years (SCI, complete).

I do Disabled Parking Enforcement for the City of Vancouver, Washington. When we observe a violation and prepare a citation, we always take photographs. It makes it easier for a judge if they choose to contest the $250.00 fine.

First lets focus on the “why”?…

fairly simple, Americans have frightening “haughty” attitude. Americans truley belive they are the Messiahs of the globe. “God syndrome…Our chit don’t stink, we are the chosen ones of all humanity. Including among themselves. Raw indignant arrogance. American culture can do what it wants when it wants.

Second… Re-read above. Add lack of respect, lack of compassion, and “I park here because I can”. Re-read above.

Third… The first paragraph sums it up.

I missed the first post which echoced my response by Judy Adkins, posted this comment on Jul 4th, 2010….
” What does it matter what we do, because no one cares. Nothing gets done.”. Exactly. But this goes far beyond this issue of parking in a spot reserved for those truley handicapped.

America raids foreign nations, decimates their cultures, steals their resources, and “Nothing gets done”. because there exist very little accountability when America decimates an entire foreign culture or decimates the womb. The most sacred place on earth for an infant.
