On April 1st and 2nd, AMS Vans sponsored the 14th annual Black Drum Fishing Tournament held for people with disabilities at Galveston Yacht Basin in Texas.  The event gave people with disabilities a chance to come together and enjoy a day out on Turning Point Gulf Coast for 6 hours of fishing, eating, and playing games. Another major up-side to the day was none of the participants were required to have a fishing license for the event thanks to the Texas Parks and Wildlife.

The Holland family of the Houston, TX AMS Wheelchair Vans location attended the event and had a blast along with friends and families of the participants, captains, and fishermen whom volunteered for the cause. The day included thousands of shrimp, 40 briskets, and 150 slabs of ribs for all the participants to enjoy. There was also a live auction, a silent auction, and a raffle. After the adventure out on sea, there were prizes given out for the biggest fish caught. Prizes included; saltwater rods, reels, coolers and gift certificates.

When it was all said and done there were over 100 individuals with disabilities who attended the tournament, and all together about 1,000 people showed up for the event. Another 100 boats with their captains also volunteered for the weekend. AMS Vans was very proud to be a part of this fishing tournament, which turned out to be a great opportunity for people with disabilities to enjoy a different kind of setting with their friends and families.
