Looking for a wheelchair van…used…around the year in the 90′s. Please give any information on the prices of this age group. Looking for regular size van. Person is a paraplegic and has been driving a car for many years with controls. His car is no longer operable because it is a 1987. Thank you We want this person to drive the Van himself.

Hi:

I got a message from someone in your company who calls himself “wheelchair jones”

He wrote on our site: http://www.squidoo.com/PimpMyWheelchair

“We’ve debated handing out mini license plates when selling wheelchair vans to match the wheelchair to the van. Think that’s corny?”

Thought I would let Wheelchair Jones know that I don’t think it is so corny. I think some people would really get a kick out of it. Why not try it and see what response you get?

I have one of your vans, love it!! I live in NJ, in a Sr. Citizen development. On 2nd floor condo. Do not want to sell, I am in my 70′s. Would like to put outdoor stair lift, to take me up to my floor. (Two units on floor the other owner has no problem with this) Can the association stop me from doing this, or am I covered under some kind of disabilities laws?
All they will say, is submit all the paper work and we will decide. thanks Louise

“The Fair Housing Act also requires landlords to allow tenants with disabilities to make reasonable access-related modifications to their private living space, as well as to common use spaces. (The landlord is not required to pay for the changes.)”

I am currently looking into my options of purchasing a handicap accessible van. I was made aware that there may be federal grants are available for this purpose. If you have any information in regards to this please pass on the information to me.

Thank you,

Thomas Shannon, I know exactly what you’re going through. I have been fighting with my small town here in nj for the last year are now about the conditions of the sidewalks. They all seem to be lifting because of trees that are on the town’s easement. They just say it’s the homeowner’s responsibility along with the curbs. That just blows my mind. My daughter, who understands the ADA laws story well, because of her job came down there and spoke to the council and the mayor about it. Even explain to them that there was a major court ruling in Sacramento ca that caused a significant settlement against Sacramento, monetarily. Offhand, I think it was over $800,000 not including lawyer fees. There were 8/10 people suing the city of Sacramento. Under title II ADA laws. Your best bet might be to get in touch with Department of Justice. That’s what I want to do next. I think I’ll get satisfaction than when federal government comes in. I just can’t believe they’re trying to pass it off on homeowners. When it’s their trees causing the problem and we cannot trim the trees were cut them down. Go figure. I wish you luck, please keep in touch with me on this. Thanks.

Are your NEWvans sold by mobility van convertors or just by you?

Who does repair work, when needed?

Thank you.
