AMS Vans FOCUS on a Golf Fundraiser for Kids with Special Needs
Apr 29, 2013
Once again, the greatest golfers at AMS Vans are packing up their putters to play a round of golf in support of a worthwhile organization that focuses on kids with special needs and their parents, and one of our wheelchair vans brought us all together.
FOCUS, which stands for Families Of Children Under Stress, is hosting the 13th Annual E*TRADE Financial FORE FOCUS Golf Classic May 8 at Bear’s Best Atlanta, a course in Edinburgh, a subdivision just north of Atlanta. No doubt, all participating golfers are champing at the bit to play this course, which was assembled by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. The noteworthy 18-hole course consolidates the absolute best holes from the hundreds The Golden Bear has designed worldwide.
AMS Vans owner Kip Crum, general manager Dallas Crum, mobility consultant JP Jackson, and Ron Ammons, who helps us deliver AMS handicap vehicles to customers nationwide, will represent the company at the event, which promises to raise much-needed funding for the organization.
According to GM Dallas Crum, “We learned about this organization when they purchased an AMS Vans handicap van. We’re really excited about participating in this event! FOCUS is an outstanding organization that deserves our help, and we’re always receptive to opportunities like this. Besides, any golfer would jump at the chance to play this particular course. This is a win-win for FOCUS and AMS Vans!”
FOCUS was founded 30 years ago, when two medically fragile children with no specific diagnosis shared a hospital room, and the parents of both children were unable to find a support group. The parents shared a common bond, their friendship grew and, after that hospitalization, they found comfort, hope, and an opportunity to share information.
Together, the parents established FOCUS to help families deal with the staggering struggles of parenting a child with special needs. Over the years, FOCUS has offered that same comfort, hope, and information to parents of children with disabilities, along with programs for the children and their families, reaching almost 3,000 families in metro Atlanta and surrounding areas.
If your company would like to participate in the tournament, it’s not too late to enter. Click here to read more about it and register. We’ll be back after the event to bring you the scoop, the scores, and perhaps a sob story, depending on how well our guys play. Meanwhile, good luck to our golfers–every birdie brings BIG MONEY into FOCUS!
